Bean pate

Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for bean pâté that’s vegan and full of flavor!

Bean Pâté

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (15 oz) beans (such as white beans, black beans, or chickpeas), rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 cup cooked onions (sautéed until soft)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme (or any herbs of your choice)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon tahini or nutritional yeast for added creaminess and flavor

Instructions:

  1. Sauté Onions and Garlic:

    • In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until they are soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  2. Blend the Mixture:

    • In a food processor, combine the rinsed beans, sautéed onions and garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, dried thyme, salt, and pepper. If using, add tahini or nutritional yeast. Blend until smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  3. Chill:

    • Transfer the bean pâté to a serving dish or container. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. Serve:

    • Serve chilled with crackers, bread, or fresh vegetables.
